Join us for an inspiring evening with Ingrid Richards and Adrian Spence, the visionary architects behind some of Queensland's most celebrated spaces, including Brisbane's iconic . Hear how this Queensland-based practice has helped transform Brisbane into a destination city.

Known for their signature approach — what they describe as "gentle brutalism" — masterfully balance reductive materiality with structural monumentality. They aim to create spaces that are as inviting as they are striking.

From vibrant civic hubs to seamless blends of retail, hospitality, and urban fabric, the duo’s work has redefined contemporary architecture in Brisbane and beyond. As they put it: "We see ourselves as custodians of our built environment, contributing to the ongoing evolution of our city."

Ingrid Richards, Architect and Director of Richards & Spence

Ingrid Richards co-founded Richards & Spence with Adrian Spence in 2008 with the aim of creating vibrant public spaces from private commissions. She has a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Queensland and has practised in her hometown of Brisbane for over 20 years. Richards brings strategic thinking and urban choreography to the practice of architecture.

Adrian Spence, Architect and Director of Richards & Spence

Adrian graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1996 and has practised in his hometown for over 20 years, including at BVN and Donovan Hill. Following this, Adrian and Ingrid Richards formed their own architecture firm in 2008, Richards & Spence.
