About this Event

Gallivant is a single day TTRPG fundraiser event for trans mutual aid.

On September 19th from 11-7 you can join one of our talented GMs on an oneshot adventure @Arthole in Canton.

We'd prefer if you'd buy an advance ticket, but there may be seats available if you show up in the morning. We are starting with 3 Adventures, but we will be adding more according to demand.

Gamemasters will lead you on a oneshot adventure through systems old and new, with pre-written characters available for each story. You don’t need anything to play at any of our tables - just bring yourself! You are welcome to bring dice, pencils and paper too if you wish, but equipment will be provided. We recommend that people bring a packed lunch, but there are also several cafes and supermarkets in the area.

Community Tickets - £5

We're providing a small amount of low price tickets, as we want to give lots of people the chance to play. If you would like to reserve one of our Community Tickets, please contact us to find out their availability.

---Q&A---

What are the CWs, can they be changed?

Please message us if you would like to confirm the content warnings for an adventure. We have not put them on the ticket page this time for those who wish to avoid spoilers. We have tried to be as clear as possible about the content in the adventures, especially those games that contain horror elements. Though every game takes place in the realm of fiction, we understand some themes or events in our games will be upsetting or might feel in some way close to real-life. We will have consent forms in place on the day to make sure you have a clear line of communication with your GMs about your limits and triggers, called The Lines and Veils process. There may be some tags that can be described in less detail or slightly altered. Please contact us if you would like more specific information on a particular tag.

11-7 sounds like a long day! Won’t that be tiring?

The timings were chosen to give you the most optimum oneshot experience, with two breaks to give your brain a rest, to drink and eat, and multiple shorter breaks for your comfort. Your table's GM will work with the players to create the most comfortable experience possible for the unique needs of your table. Don't be afraid to go at your own pace. Your game will finish some time from 6-7.

We've run this schedule twice before, and we got positive responses about the pace of play.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive promptly from 11-11.20. We won’t turn you away if you are late, but we can’t promise the game will wait for you if you are very late.

Can we book as a group?

Of course! Please be careful to book the exact amount of tickets you need in one go, if you can, to make sure you and your friends get to play on the same table if that’s what you’d like to do.

Can I bring food into the venue, and eat during play?

Yes, you can! We only ask that you be respectful to the venue and the GM, check for allergies at the table, and try to be as clean and tidy as possible.

What are levels? I'm a beginner, will I struggle?

In D&D and some other games, levels describe the level of supernatural ability the players have, and the power of the monsters is adjusted accordingly. It goes from 1-20, and there is a slight increase in complexity to characters as you accrue more levels, but overall the game stays the same. Level 1-6 remain fairly beginner friendly. No matter what level you play at, our DMs are expecting inexperienced people at the table and will help you make the most of your character. TTRPGs are not competitive games, they are collaborative!

---Accessibility Info---

Arthole is totally step free, with a small incline at the entrance. They have two ungendered toilets, with one of them being wheelchair friendly. They're located on a main bus route with regular public transport stopping within a 1 minute walk of the venue. Trains are 10 minutes away by foot.

GM: Tales Told Together

Level 2, Daggerheart (All experience welcome)

Prewritten Characters Provided.

A botched job has left you in debt to the wrong person. Now, you have been given a new task: collect an overdue payment from a local gambling parlour. This time, failure will have dire consequences.

Step into Mavros, a modern gothic-noir city of guns, gangs and arcane magic, where a clean conscience is a luxury few can afford.
Daggerheart is a fantasy TTRPG from Darrington Press. Fairly new to the scene, the system encourages collaborative worldbuilding and storytelling, and makes every choice matter. It's very beginner friendly, but also perfect for confident roleplayers who are looking to stretch their creative imagination.

GM: Millie

Free League's Vaesen, Fae Horror Roleplaying

Prewritten characters will be provided, with plenty of choice and ability to change.

This Gothic story is one of a M**der, a fairy, and a village haunted by a past injustice. Our investigators receive a invitation to the funeral and will reading of an Oxford academic, William Newbury, in his home village of Aldsham. However, upon arrival it seems that foul play was involved in Newbury’s death. Seemingly unconnected, a spirit haunts the village and the nearby Abbey of St. Arilda’s, and villagers disappear from their homes one night each mid-winter. Investigation uncovers secrets a decade old and secrets new, the resolution of which may lay a desolate soul to rest and save a village.

Vaesen is a supernatural investigation roleplaying game set in a world very similar to our own - except, for the fact that fairies, werewolves, trolls and any creature you can imagine are real. They hide themselves from ordinary society, effecting the world in subtle ways. You play Thursday's Children, humans blessed with the ability to see these creatures. Many Thursday's Children see it as their duty to protect the world from Vaesen - and Vaesen from the world, lest the hidden magic be exploited for terrible ends. These threats cannot be fought with strength of arms alone - you must use your cunning and your heart.
