“slow down before you miss it,” was an opportunity to create pieces exploring mixed mediums while urging the viewer to take a pause, no matter the setting, before life passes them by. Each piece shows Black women expressing various emotions in different environments in hopes to evoke questions such as “Can two things be true–can one feel their feelings fully while taking in all that an experience has to offer?”, “Is she enjoying herself?”, “Is she being thoughtful and mindful?”, “Is she stretching herself to grow and change where change is needed?”
No matter how Kiara may interpret each piece, she invites the viewer to make their own interpretations and take the time to ask themselves “Am I slowing down before life passes me by?”
On display February 8-23.
ABOUT KIARA JONES
Kiara Jones, Owner of K.Soleil Artwork, was born and raised in Georgia. During childhood, Kiara’s grandparents and parents showcased art throughout their homes. From years of basking in artwork that depicts black people in profound, diverse, and everyday settings to images of well-known black public figures, Kiara became increasingly inspired the works of Varnette Honeywood, Samuel Guilford, Annie Lee, and Leroy Campbell.
