Local photographer Mark Schiffner will be showcasing an exhibit at Equinox Village from November 21, 2024 - January 6, 2025. The Gallery Opening is from 5 – 6 p.m. Thursday, November 21. There will be live music with Marc LaChac, as well as refreshments. The opening and exhibit are free and open to the public. The Gallery at Equinox Village is open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Mark Schiffner is a visual artist originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania. After his 31-year medical career in the U.S. Navy, he and his wife MaryAnne settled in Bennington to be closer to her family. He continued to work in the medical profession for the next 14 years before retiring in 2022. During his time in Bennington, Schiffner has concentrated his visual arts interest in photography, exhibiting his work at the former Beyond Gallery in Bennington, Fiddlehead Gallery, Equinox Village Gallery, Southern Vermont Medical Center, the Vermont Visitors Center, and the Park-McCullough House in North Bennington.
His subjects tend to be landscapes and wildlife, especially birds-in-flight. Last winter, he was asked by the Vermont Arts Exchange to photograph bands performing as part of the Basement Music Series. Some of those photos were published in the March-April 2023 issue of Vermont Country magazine. For over a year, he has photographed musical acts mainly at Little City Cider Company, as well as at the Bennington Theater, Bennington’s Monument Arts and Cultural Center, and the Prospect Coffee House.
Schiffner has a BA in Graphic and Advertising Design from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Part of his studies included Intro to Photography and Darkroom Techniques, taught by nationally known portrait photographer Judith Joy Ross.
