Join us for an important opportunity to shape the future of planning and zoning in Gallatin County! Over the years, residents have highlighted challenges and gaps in the county’s planning and zoning framework. Now, the Gallatin County Commission wants to hear directly from you about these issues and explore potential solutions together.
The Gallatin County Planning Department is hosting a series of community listening sessions where you can share your ideas and feedback on zoning reform with the County Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission, Planning Board, and planning staff. These listening sessions are focused on Gallatin County’s planning jurisdiction (this excludes municipalities like Bozeman, Belgrade, Three Forks, Manhattan, and West Yellowstone).
Session dates are:
February 18 - 1-4 PM
March 13 - 1:30-4 PM
March 25 - 6-8 PM
Each session will feature:
➡️A brief presentation by Planning Staff that will:
▪️Explain how zoning and land use planning currently work in the county
▪️Provide an overview of the challenges within the current system.
▪️Provide potential options for reforming, updating, or expanding zoning districts - or creating new ones.
➡️ A moderated public discussion - opportunity for the public to share verbal feedback about county zoning reform.
All sessions will be held in the Gallatin County Courthouse Community Room, located on the third floor at 311 W. Main St. in downtown Bozeman. For those unable to attend in person, sessions will also be accessible virtually via Zoom. Details for joining online will be provided on www.envisiongallatin.com prior to the sessions.
No votes or decisions will be made at these sessions meetings. However, this is an important opportunity to share your perspective with elected officials and voting members of planning related boards and commissions to inform likely future decisions around zoning reform. Depending on attendance, per person time limits may be established to ensure that everyone gets a chance to share their thoughts.
Resources to help you understand the county’s planning framework and its challenges, along with discussion prompts for consideration, will be available at www.envisiongallatin.com one week prior to the first session.
