Czech Dinner: A 35th Anniversary Tribute to the Velvet Revolution
We are excited to announce a special event at Café Kosmos! Our very own Barbora Krukow, who you may know, is originally from the Czech Republic, and she’s going to prepare a special Czech vegan dinner just for you.
On 17th November 2024, Barbora will be cooking a delicious meal to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution—a peaceful movement that brought democracy and freedom to Czechoslovakia. This dinner is not just a celebration of history but also an opportunity for Barbora to share some of her favourite childhood recipes, lovingly veganized and full of traditional Czech flavours.
The menu will feature comforting and hearty dishes inspired by Czech cuisine, including:

Starter:
Lentil Soup with Garlic (Čočková polévka s česnekem)
A hearty, comforting soup made from lentils and garlic.
Main Course:
Carrot Stew (Dušená mrkev)
A slow-cooked, rustic carrot dish.
Sweet and Sour Cabbage (Dušené sladkokyselé zelí)
A tangy-sweet braised cabbage, perfect as a side.
Soya Bites Baked with Onions, Garlic, and Beer
A flavorful vegan roast twist, baked with beer, onions, and garlic.
Potato Dumplings (Bramborové knedlíky) & Mashed Potatoes (Bramborová kaše) Classic Czech sides that pair perfectly with the main dishes.
Dessert:
Poppy Seed Cakes (Makové koláče)
Traditional sweet cakes filled with poppy seeds.
