The last step is to come back to this Eventbrite platform to pay for your USD 70 deposit. This deposit will be fully refunded to applicants not selected after the selection process concludes.

Successful applicants will be invited to pay the remaining fees within one week of receiving the notification emails. Full scholarship applicants will have to pay a deposit of 400 USD total (330 USD in addition to the 70 USD paid) which will be held until after the gathering.

Future Positive, or Future+, is a programme co-designed by Architecture 2030 and Wildbound, with a mission to enable the emergence of a regenerative architectural and place design hub in Asia. Working in collaboration with our local partners (Mykunda Community in Sichuan, China; Borneo Laboratory in Kuching, Malaysia; Earth Company in Bali, Indonesia), the organising team curate and facilitate multi-day immersive experiences and ongoing mentor and peer support, planting the seeds and nurturing participants to practice and promote regenerative development and design by aligning heads, hearts and hands.

The immersive experiences feature intimate practitioners’ sharing, individual and breakout group exercises, design challenges, connection with nature and place through play, food(!), and meditative movement practices. An emphasis is placed on indigenous history and practices and their connection to the place. The outcome is a deep transformation through reconnecting with the self, others and nature.

The curation and facilitation of Future+ reflect the organising team’s influences, which include: Regenesis Institute, Schumacher College, Deep Ecology, Theory U/ Presencing Institute, Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.

Who is this programme for?

• Architects, urban designers, rural designers, landscape designers, place designers/ place makers, community facilitators, local government, real estate developers, teachers or postgraduate students in these areas, based in or have close connection with China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam.
• Complete beginners in regenerative design to experienced practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of and embodiment of regenerative design.
• Practitioners who are willing to commit to apply the learnings from Future+ as well as to promote or advocate for regenerative development and design post-programme.

Applicant requirements:

• Professional background: Applicants should be working architects, planners, place designers/ place makers (community facilitators working on creating places), rural construction practitioners, researchers in these areas, local government or real estate developers and other related practitioners with appropriate practical experience and professional knowledge.
• Language ability: Given the international mentors and participants involved in the workshop, applicants are expected to be able to communicate and listen to lectures in English in order to participate in all activities and discussions.
• Willingness to practice: We expect applicants to put into practice the knowledge and skills they have learnt at the end of the programme, not only to enhance their personal professional abilities, but also to contribute to the growing community and the promotion of regenerative development and design.
  The Journey in Kuching
  Over the five days from the 17th to the 21st of October (16th October being the arrival day 0), we will be going on a journey together. The tentative programme features elements of self-observation (morning practice, rest/quiet time, and reflections), connection with peers, play (city mapping), nature connection (Fairy Cave), indigenous wisdom sharing, theory (regenerative snippets) and practice (design challenges). There is a theme each day and we are also guided by a set of principles and rituals which will be shared in more detail during the online orientation session.
