About this Event
Fusion Nights is a one-of-a-kind evening of poetry and music! Join us for a night of presence and connection, featuring Alexis Wild’s spoken word poetry woven together in real time with Kevin Dunklee’s improvised soundscape of keyboard, trumpet, percussion and more.
Nothing is pre-recorded and nothing we create here can be repeated the same way twice. This is a night where you'll be invited to witness and experience something just once... here and now.
What to Expect
- Live poetry performed in the moment
- Fully improvised musical accompaniment
- A blend of keyboard, trumpet, percussion, and experimental sound
- Intimate, immersive atmosphere
- Space to slow down, feel, and witness something unrepeatable
This is not a traditional reading or a concert, it's a weaving of art created to bring you more connection and joy!
Content: Expect to hear poetry about life, love, religion and connecction. Alexis was raised in a cult, got married at 19, left two big relationships, is a single mom of 4 kids, a social entreprenuer, a former doula and a past dominatrix ... and has stories to tell. Expect to be encouraged, seen, and reminded of who YOU are!
Agenda:
Doors for Fusion Nights open at 7:30, with the show beginning at 7:45 pm. There will be one intermission.
Performers:
Alexis Christine Wild is a queer Canadian artist and poet working across painting, performance, and installation art. Her work centers on permission and connection, exploring the complexity of being human and the parts we often keep hidden. Alexis is increasingly focused on story-driven and installation art exploring how meaning builds through layers, presence, and shared space. www.alexiswild.com
Kevin Dunklee is a lifetime musician and composer with trumpet as his main instrument. As a musician, his mission is to be a channel for beauty to enter the world; and he currently does this primarily through free jazz and horn sectional playing. His additional proficiencies in keyboard and percussion allow him to improvise and create immersive musical tapestries free of the restriction of genre.
