This 4 hour class will introduce you to the basics of glass fusing and you'll make your own 28cm tall lantern in a choice of black or white.
You will create 4 panels of trees, each decorated to represent the four seasons of the year, which replace the clear glass supplied with the lantern. You will be shown how to use enamels to paint your tree base and then choose from a wide range of frit (crushed glass), coloured glass, confetti glass and murrini to complete each season.
After the class, your panels will be fused as a single layer of glass at around 740 deg.C, retaining the texture of the frit and other glass materials you use to make your design.
These will then be fitted into your chosen colour of lantern and will be available to collect around 7 days after the class.
Your lantern is suitable for use with a block candle, a tealight or battery-operated nightlight or fairy lights.
The class is suitable for age 14+ but under 16's must be accompanied by an adult also taking the class.
Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the workshop.
N.B. Although the theme of the class is the 4 seasons, if you really don't like this design, you are free to decorate the panels in your own design. Equally, if you are attending as a couple you may not want two lanterns the same!
