About this Event
This course is a follow-up day to our Fungi Identification for Improvers Study Day on 23 October. You will spend a whole day in the field searching for fungi to identify. You will meet inside the park gate opposite the end of a road called The Rise, Sevenoaks, TN13 1RG (Map ref: Tq 5334353425).
The day will begin with a brief introduction to the larger fungi - the various groups and their habitats. You will learn about the key characteristics necessary for identification, such as gill attachments and spore colours. Mycorrhizal associations (symbiotic relationships) with trees and other plant species will be discussed too.
There will also be a discussion on the edible and harmful species, but there will be no collecting other than for identification
Led by Joyce Pitt, Botanist
Please note that this is not a beginners' course. It is aimed at those who wish to improve their identification skills. Latin names will be used.
