Join photographer Sergey Novikov for a hands-on large format workshop, where he will introduce his ongoing project Gentrifying London, featuring images from recent Aylesham Community Action protests.

During the session, you will:

● Shoot with large format film – each participant will photograph one subject of their choice (architecture, still life, portrait, or street scene). The camera setup and a selection of lenses (equivalent to 45mm, 50mm, and 70mm in 35mm format) will be provided.

● Learn technical skills - together we’ll cover camera movements, lens choice, handheld light metering, depth of field control, film loading, and focusing.

● Collaborate and share perspectives - you’ll gain insights not only from your own practice, but also from seeing how others approach different tasks and scenarios.

After the workshop, Sergey will develop and scan all films to create a collaborative zine, A Peckham Rye Wander. Each participant will receive a PDF of the zine.

No equipment is required, but you’re welcome to bring your own camera for additional shooting along the way.

The workshop’s main aim is to document Peckham Rye before it undergoes further changes due to gentrification, combining artistic practice with collective memory.

BIO

Sergey Novikov (Russia, based in London). My photography projects center on the studying of the economy and culture of territories and societies and the mechanisms by which they function. Photographic practice includes interventions in urban landscape and staging as well as reenactments of the visual marks of modernity.
