About this Event
St Mungo’s purpose is to end homelessness and rebuild lives. In the midst of some of the highest levels of homelessness and rough sleeping on record, we are needed more than ever. Last year we supported 26,012 people who were homeless, or at risk of it. Of these, 10,240 were people supported by one of our 14 outreach services. We ran 138 services in total, in London and across the South of England. Our work means we were able to provide somewhere safe to stay to 2,183 people every night.
Val Cheesbrough is an alternative singer-songwriter, playing a mix of folk, math rock jazz and electronica. Drawing on inspirations from the real world as well as fiction and myth, his music aims to explore moments from the past alongside close examinations of modern day life.
Waltzing:
Formed of guitarists Valentine Cheesbrough, Daniel Fawcett-Tuke, and saxophonist Oskar Jones, the trio present music that blends their shared interest of jazz, electronic, and folk into soundscapes of musical amalgam that seek to temporarily transport listeners to places that are simultaneously present and distant.
Their influences include Floating Points, Nala Sinephro and Oneohtrix Point Never.
Corin Veitch :
Loves writing weird folky music about his family, places he’s been and hasn’t, politics, and made-up stories. His main influences include Randy Newman, Blake Mills, Big Thief, Sam Wilkes, Nina Simone, and many more.
James Józef:
Multi-instrumentalist, producer, and alternative-folk artist, James Józef weaves intimate, lyrically rich songs that explore vulnerability and introspection. Influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, and Blake Mills , his sound is both timeless and contemporary, built on poetic songwriting and delicate arrangements. Recently attracting the attention of Sony Music Publishing and Decca, Józef is a name to watch for fans of emotionally resonant, genre-crossing folk.
