The Delaware Burn Camp was established to provide a safe and natural environment for the promotion of physical and emotional healing to young victims of burn injury. It is also 100% free for everyone who attends, as the main goal, is to aid in adjustment post trauma. This camp gives its campers a way of developing friendships, with other burn victim survivors helping to build their confidence and self-esteems within a supportive community. They develop leadership skills and take part in teamwork activities.
Because this camp is 100% free to their campers, to operate every year they rely on donations, sponsorship and communities to help fund the Delaware Burn Camp each year.
This is why, along with personal reasons explained below, I have chosen to support this camp and will be fundraising at The Alternative Market, this September. Take home baked goods will be on the agenda, as well as other pieces, will be on offer to help raise funds. All the proceeds from my photography will also aid this cause. I will be releasing a form with a list and prices for those who want to pre-order theirs.

My Story
As most of you don’t know my story, here it is. In 1992, after an incident that injured my right ankle, it was decided to preform my ankle reconstruction earlier. It was meant to happen when I was fully grown as the procedure can stunt growth. It did with me, and I am two different shoe sizes… lol. Anyway, it had to be done over three operations, and it would be fair to say that over the course of that, I spent a bit of time in the hospital, and I had to learn to walk again. Because I was opened on the same scar line each time, it left some scaring that wasn’t exactly pretty. I was bullied for it to the point that I became so self-conscious of it; I kept it covered for the most part. I still do keep it covered for the most part to this day. I also avoid social situations where I can’t keep it covered. I also struggled picking up where I had left off. It wasn’t the same. People had changed and friendships had. Anyway, this is why I think this camp is so great! I get it firsthand, how hard it can be and the struggles these people can face trying to pick their lives up again.
I am sure I am not alone in this either, so I really want to help the Delaware Burn Camp, give their campers an awesome time.
