About this Event

Calling all Trustees and Arts Board Members (or those considering joining a Board)! Learn about all things Arts Board Membership and network with others at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin
on 17th September!

This workshop looks at best practice and at the realities of arts charity governance. We’ll take a thorough look at the compliance requirements of being on a Board, covering roles and responsibilities plus managerial, legal and financial duties. But that’s only half of the picture!

The taking this session is Brona Whittaker, Head of Arts at Arts & Business NI.
Brona has been working in the cultural sector in Northern Ireland for almost twenty years and during that time has worked with cultural organisations across Belfast including the Lyric Theatre and Replay Theatre Company. Brona leads on the design and delivery of A&B NI’s programme of fundraising and governance support services for the cultural sector.

Attendees will –

1) Learn more about the realities of arts charity governance and the experience of being a trustee of a cultural organisation

2) Gain knowledge on the compliance requirements of being on a Board, covering roles and responsibilities plus managerial, legal and financial duties

3) Be able to gain ask questions and engage through practical tasks and upskill on board membership

4) Upskill on resources after attending to help with their board member journey or refresh on the roles and responsibilities of being a board member.

5) Connect with other trustees and leaders on arts board over refreshments!

This session is perfect for new trustees and Board members seeking an introduction to their roles and responsibilities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage and ask question on any points covered
