About this Event
Fundamentals Critical Care Support
Targeted audience: physicians, APPs, nurses and medical students
This is a two-day, in-person course.
FCCS is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the tools they need to provide bedside care for patients who are or may become critically ill. The Society of Critical Care Medicine's (SCCM) hosted Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) course combines expert-developed learning with interactive skill stations to provide nonintensivists and healthcare professionals with the realistic training they need to manage critically ill patients for the first 24 hours or until an appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged. The course concentrates on adult critical care and includes separate sections on critical care for pregnant and pediatric patients.
Class size will be capped at 16 learners.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the Physician or APP participant should be able to:
- Prioritize assessment needs for critically ill and injured patients
- Select appropriate diagnostic tests
- Identify and respond to significant changes in unstable patients
- Recognize and initiate management of acute life-threatening conditions
- Determine the need for expert consultation and/or patient transfer
Upon completion of the course for the RN and Medical Student participants should be able to:
- Evaluate assessment needs for the critically ill or injured patient
- Review appropriate diagnostic test results
- Recognize and communicate significant changes in the unstable patient
- Recognize and initiate management of acute life-threatening conditions
- Prepare for optimal transfer
Cost
The cost of the course is $450, (plus Eventbrite fees), which will include the course fee, learning materials, a light breakfast and catered lunch.
Refund
Cost of course is refundable if requested before Oct. 3, 2024. Eventbrite fees are non-refundable.
