We will provide special packaging, so you won't need to wait for your creations to dry. All handmade crafts can be taken home immediately.
Perth Observatory:
Perth Observatory, Western Australia’s oldest observatory, is situated 35 km east of Perth in the scenic suburb of Bickley. Recognized for its scientific, cultural, and historical significance, Perth Observatory was added to the state’s Heritage Register in 2005.
This event includes:
1. Guided Crafting Sessions:
• DIY Fluid Astronaut/Space Bear
Choose your favorite figure—a 28cm astronaut or space bear and pick three 60ml bottles of your favorite paint colours. Mix the paints and pour them over your astronaut/space bear, watching the colours flow and blend. This process is incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. Once your masterpiece is complete, there's no need to wait for it to dry. We'll pack it in a special box so you can take it home right away.
• Paint Planet Lamp
Discover the joy of creativity with our DIY Planet Hand-Painted Lamp workshop! Colour and design your unique lamp to decorate your room. It's a perfect way to add a personal touch to any space. Unleash your imagination and brighten your room with your custom creation!
2. Observatory Tours:
• Solar Telescope Observation
Observe sunspots using solar telescopes. Children will receive a picture of the sun and a pen to draw the sunspots' positions, making this both educational and fun.
• Museum Visit
Explore the rich history and scientific exhibits at the museum. you'll also have the opportunity to touch real meteorites! We've set up a special display area where you can personally experience and explore these mysterious substances from space. It will be a memorable experience, allowing you to delve deeper into the mysteries of the universe and establish a real connection with it.
• Astrographic Telescope Visit
You'll have the chance to visit ancient Astrographic Telescope and learn about how it works. This hands-on experience offers a fascinating insight into the history of astronomy and the technology behind these remarkable instruments. Explore the inner workings of these telescopes and gain a deeper understanding of how they have contributed to our understanding of the universe. It's a unique opportunity to step back in time and appreciate the ingenuity of early astronomers. You even can operate it yourself!

Learn how a sundial works by observing its function firsthand.
• Worl Wangkiny
Discover the fascinating world of indigenous astronomy at Worl Wangkiny. Indigenous Australians are renowned as the world’s first astronomers, having studied and interpreted the cosmos for navigation, calendars, ceremony, cultural lore, song lines, and art for thousands of years. As such, indigenous astronomy represents an essential aspect of this country’s history and sharing those stories and knowledge of the night sky enriches all Australian cultures.
