Fun with French Phonics - for Primary Teachers
About this Event
Phonics are one of the three pillars of progression identified by Ofsted in their Languages Subject Review published in June 2021. By teaching phonics explicitly, we can help our learners to become more confident in speaking and reading out loud, to make links, apply patterns when reading and spelling. As a result of having a secure knowledge of phonics, they will become a lot more independent in their learning.
During this half-day training, we will consider the specifics of French phonics and practical strategies to engage learners to build their skills, so they can apply their phonics knowledge to both reading and writing.
This course is ideal for teachers, HLTAs, ECTs and any practitioners involved in the delivery of primary French.

- explore key principles of French phonics;
- consider resources to support the teaching of phonics;
- gain a range of practical strategies to make phonics learning engaging;
- reflect on how to encourage learners to think and behave as linguists.
