Sketch and Paint: Expressive Landscapes in Acrylics [5 Week Class]

In this dynamic short course, you’ll create energetic paintings using the expressive power of palette knives and bold, large brushes. Through engaging exercises, you’ll gain a solid understanding of essential painting techniques, learn the art of colour mixing, and discover how to create captivating depth in your work.

We’ve structured this course to take you from learning the essentials to creative independence in two distinct phases. The first three sessions are dedicated to building a strong technical foundation, where you’ll experiment with application, texture, and light to master the physical nature of the medium. These foundational weeks are designed to strip away hesitation, encouraging you to work with speed and purpose.

In the final two sessions, you’ll transition from practice to personal expression as you bring your own photograph to life with newfound confidence and skill. 

Meet Your Tutor:

Sandra is the creative force behind the Bowery, where she serves as both owner and exhibition curator. With a background as a secondary school Art teacher and extensive experience teaching in national museums and galleries, she blends academic knowledge with gallery-level insight. Her "Sketch & Paint" courses draw on over two decades of expertise, helping students translate their world onto paper through a refined, curated lens of colour and composition.

ABILITY: Perfect for beginners eager to explore the world of painting, but artists of all levels are welcome to join in the fun and experiment!

WHAT’S INCLUDED: All paint materials and paper will be supplied. Feel free to bring your own canvas or board for your own project in the latter sessions.CANCELLATION POLICY

We are able to provide credit / transfer onto another course or workshop if there is two or more weeks’ notice.

Within a two-week period, under no circumstances can we transfer you onto another event. We have incurred material costs & committed numbers to the tutor.
