🟩 What is Fun Football?
Fun Football is for players turning 7 years old (7th grade) or 8 years old (8th grade) in the year of play.
🟩 How does it work?
Your child is placed into a team following their registration and will be in this team for the season (unless change is required, in collaboration with the Grade Coordinator and Club Captain). A coach will be assigned/volunteer. They coach/manage this team for the duration of the season.
During the season the morning starts with approximately 3 skills training exercises (set by NZ Football, these will be supplied to the coaches). Your coach takes one skill depending if their team is the home or away team. Once they have run the skill with their team, the coaches swap players and run the same skill through with the opposition team. After the 3 skills training exercises teams then play an interclub game.
🟩 When do we train/play?
On a Saturday morning most games are held at Monrad Park, corner of Highbury and Ronberg Street. There may be ‘away’ games throughout the season (e.g. Feilding, Ashhurst or Levin).
Training will be coordinated by one of our senior members where they assist the coaches in running the drills/games. Training commences the week of 28th February.
🟩 Who takes the children on Saturdays?
Coaches and/or Managers are volunteers from the parent body who will be overseen by a coordinator from Marist Junior Football Club. Expert coaching from Central Football should be offered during the course of the season.
