Full Moon Paddle with CRC
Advertisement
If you love the tranquility of a flat water float, wait until you experience it under the Full Moon and stars above. There is a hush and stillness that can only be equated to a front row seat view of our Planet hurdling through the cosmos. You understand how Ancient Peoples looked to the skies and saw their Deities and you can feel the passage of the seasons as the moon traces its path across the night sky month over month.
If this sounds like something you’d like to experience first hand, we’d like to provide you with a safe and welcoming group opportunity to do so. Here’s how it works.
Event Information:
We will meet and launch boats from the Brubaker Valley Road Launch at Speedwell Forge Lake.
You must bring your own flashlight/headlamp!
If you are renting please arrive between 7:30 and 8:00PM. We prefer to match you with your gear and provide appropriate safety instructions before full dark.
You are free to explore the lake in groups of two after check in. No one should be paddling solo. Please be certain to sign out when you leave so that we are certain no one gets left behind.
Bring a change of clothing and towel, and dress to get wet. Appropriate quick dry clothing and secure footwear with good traction is recommended. No flip flops or slip on sandals please.
Dress for the weather, even mid summer, it can be chilly on the water after sundown. A hoodie, wind breaker, or similar light jacket is not a bad idea.
Hydration. We discourage single use plastic water bottles, and recommend refillable water bottles. Potable water will be available for refills.
A note on headlamps… please be aware that the best way to experience this environment is allowing your eyes to adjust naturally. You will be surprised how bright the moon light is on the water. If you do use a headlamp, please keep it angled low and limited to necessary use. It is too easy to ruin someone else’s night vision with a glance in the wrong direction. Hand held lighting, or non directional light sources are preferred.
