About this Event
What is Full Moon Meditation?
Full Moon Day (known in Buddhism as Uposatha Day) is an important day for Buddhists.
It comes once a week, following the lunar calendar, and some Full Moon days are especially significant—such as Visakha Bucha Day, which commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and passing of the Buddha.
On these days, Buddhists traditionally go to the temple, make merit, meditate, and practice the teachings. This has been done for generations and is a beautiful tradition that is unique to Buddhist culture.
Meditation follows the teachings of the Buddha, which focus on calming the mind and letting go of stress and mental agitation. It helps refine the mind, bring inner clarity, and create a sense of peace and relaxation.
A Full Moon night is considered a particularly good time to meditate—a moment to slow down, let go of life’s distractions, and reconnect with inner calm.
Meditating Together Across the Country
Fullmoon Meditation is a project that invites people to meditate together at the same time, no matter where they are in the country. By using modern technology, we can create a shared space of calm and connection.
An experienced meditation teacher will gently guide the session, offering guidance on posture, mindfulness, and how to settle the mind in a simple and practical way. Whether you are completely new to meditation or have practiced before, this space is open and welcoming to everyone.
This is a chance to pause, breathe, and discover a sense of inner peace—together, under the Full Moon.
In Wichita, Kansas, the Dhammakaya Meditation Center Kansas is hosting a Full Moon Meditation, held at the same time as other Dhammakaya centers across the country.
The event is an open invitation for anyone who is curious about meditation—especially those who want to try meditation for a short time or are looking for a like-minded community interested in mindfulness and inner peace. There is no cost to attend.
Our goal is simple: we want people to experience inner happiness and calm for themselves. Meditation is open to everyone, regardless of race, background, or religion. We believe that peace of mind and inner happiness are universal and accessible to all
