About this Event

Come hike with us under the Sturgeon Moon!

What is the Sturgeon Moon?

The Sturgeon Moon is the full moon that occurs in August, traditionally named by Native American tribes and early settlers because this was the time when sturgeon, a large freshwater fish, were most easily caught in the Great Lakes and other North American waters.

The lake sturgeon is one of North America’s oldest and largest freshwater fish, living over 100 million years and reaching up to 6 feet long!

PLEASE:

  • Wear appropriate clothing
  • Bring water/gatorade etc.
  • Also, bug spray!

The park gate will close at 8:15p.m, please arrive before then. By 8:30 we will begin the hike.

We will start at the Blue Heron Pavilion and loop around the lake.

Hope to see y'all on our Full Moon Hike!
