We invite you to join us on the evening of the April full moon to relax, regulate, and elevate our spirits, through a journey of acupuncture and sound. This will be a 1 hour journey where participants will have the opportunity to receive ear acupuncture while relaxing to live ambient/drone sounds. There will be yoga mats, bolsters and blankets provided by the studio to set up your relaxation nest, and you are welcome to bring any additional props to add comfort to your experience.
In this Acupuncture Sound Journey, Brianna will be offering the NADA protocol. NADA stands for the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, and is a specific style of treatment that works directly on the nervous system. It is deeply calming and helpful for recovery from addiction, mental health disorders such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and emotional trauma. It involves the gentle placement of up to 5 small, sterile needles into specific points in each ear.
About your hosts:
Brianna Grant is a registered acupuncturist, and movement facilitator from K'ómoks (Comox Valley). She has been residing in lək̓ʷəŋən/Victoria since 2020 developing her practice in Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine, while facilitating a variety of movement & dance workshops. Her work is driven by a desire to foster meaningful relationships and growth within community through shared experiences of embodiment and connection to the natural world. She believes in the therapeutic potential of group dynamics, and is drawn to the ceremonial and ritualistic aspects of life that mark seasonal transitions.
Dan Belgue is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and performer from lək̓ʷəŋən/Victoria. While predominantly creating within the world of folk music, he also has a keen interest in sonic exploration, textures, dissonance, and droney soundscapes. Using a mix of digital and analog instruments and tools, his ambient, drone-based soundscapes are organic and improvisational, reflecting the energy of the space, the moment, and shared experience in which the sounds are being created.
Weaving the therapeutic benefits of acupuncture and live ambient sound, we will sink into our bodies and journey together, celebrating the return of the sun, longer days, and the shifting season.
