Join Fujifilm Field Product Technical Expert Tommy Spencer for a one-hour, hands-on session exploring pre-programed film simulations and how to build/customize your own film recipes from them on Fujifilm X Series cameras. Learn how color, contrast, grain, white balance, and tone curves work together to emulate the look and character of classic film—or create a signature aesthetic that's entirely your own.
Whether you're a longtime film shooter looking to carry that analog aesthetic into your digital workflow or a digital photographer curious about what makes film so distinctive, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the creative decisions behind both mediums. You'll also learn practical techniques for achieving beautiful, film-inspired results straight out of camera, reducing time spent editing while developing a look that's uniquely yours.
Bring your Fujifilm X Series camera and follow along as Tommy walks through the process step by step. You'll leave with new custom recipes, a better understanding of Fujifilm's renowned color science, and a fresh appreciation for how analog photography continues to inspire digital image-making.
PHOTOWALK AFTER CLASS!
Following our Custom Film Recipes for Fujifilm X Cameras class, Tommy will lead a casual photo walk through the neighborhood surrounding Pro Photo Supply. Put your film simulations and recipes to the test, or simply join us for a relaxed Wednesday evening of photography with Fujifilm! We'll even have some loaner camera's to try out!
We’ll explore the streets, architecture, color, and changing evening light while experimenting with different Film Simulations and creative approaches. Plus, we'll have extra Fujifilm camera's available to borrow, but all photographers are welcome!

ABOUT TOMMY SPENCER
With 33 years of photography experience under his belt, Tommy’s formative years were shaped by documenting the Portland skateboard and music scenes in the 90s on black and white film. This desire to document subcultures led him to pursue a degree in photography and graphic design from the University of Oregon where he was able to learn the beginnings of digital photography. Out of college, Tommy found himself working as a lighting assistant for some of Portland’s top product photographers and taking on the role of lead photographer and head retoucher for a school-based photography company. Fast forward a decade or so and Tommy’s journey into photography education would begin when he joined Photo Club PDX as a founding member. He honed his educator skills briefly at Lensbaby and continued to teach classes virtually throughout the early 2020s. With classes that cover a broad range of topics, Tommy joins the rest of the Field Product Technical Expert team at Fujifilm in delivering classes that highlight Fujifilm’s products strengths and special technical qualities.
