Join us for our next Club Lunch on Wednesday 24 June as renowned maritime historian and author Dr Howard Gray brings to life the remarkable story of the Dutch ship Zeewijk.
Wrecked on the Houtman Abrolhos Islands in 1727, the Zeewijk story is often overshadowed by the infamous Batavia saga, but what followed was equally extraordinary. Rather than turning on one another, survivors worked together to build a small boat from the wreckage and attempt an escape against all odds, creating one of the most fascinating stories of resilience and survival in Australian maritime history.
With the Zeewijk’s 300th anniversary approaching in 2027, this is a fascinating opportunity to hear the story brought to life by one of WA’s leading maritime historians.
Your ticket includes a drink on arrival, followed by the presentation and buffet lunch.
All members, guests and visitors are welcome.
