About this Event
Learn to graft and take home a Fruit Tree! Two sessions available to choose from on March 28th, 9:30-11:30 or Noon-2:00. Join us for a hands-on workshop and learn how to graft your own apple or pear trees using bench grafting techniques! The price of class includes a fruit tree of your very own to take home.
Students will choose which variety of apple or pear they would like to graft from a unique list of options presented by your instructor, Tonia Lordy, on the day of class. She will help guide you to pick a variety that is to your liking. One tree is included in the price of the workshops!
Class will cover selection of appropriate grafting wood, an explanation of grafting tools and supplies, and hands-on practice preparing, cutting, placing, and securing scionwood onto rootstock.
What to bring: If you have them, bring bypass hand pruners, and a grafting knife, or box cutter. If you don’t have those things, you may use ours.
Co-sponsored by the Home Orchard Education Center and the Horticulture Department at CCC.
