Hip hop from Ghent, with roots that reach far beyond. 🎤🔥
Fritz Tavernier, aka Froze, is a Ghent-based artist who started his career with hip hop collective Rauw en Onbesproken . He went on to support Wu-Tang Clan, Snelle and Fresku , before touring with Gers Pardoel . After reaching the final of Studio Brussel’s De Nieuwe Lichting , he signed a record deal with Dutch label Top Notch .
Froze later left his beloved hometown Ghent for Brussels in search of new inspiration. His adventures in the capital resulted in the audiovisual series Brieven Uit Brussel . Along the way, he also wrote columns for De Standaard and De Morgen.
His album Brieven landed two singles in the Flemish Ultratop , including Witte Wolke , which became Catch of the Day on Studio Brussel . De Standaard described Froze as “the newest voice in what is gradually becoming a Flemish genre: the fusion of singer-songwriter music and hip hop.”
This resulted in collaborations with Kommil Foo, Lady Linn and Raymond van het Groenewoud .
