Each season, nature's artistry transforms our lakefront. In winter, snow may blanket the dunes, and ice formations may line the beach. The days are shorter, the pace is slower, and the crowds are never an issue. For this hike, the Harbor Country will be experiencing the protected side of the dunes which makes for a calmer hike. HCH President Pat Fisher, will be leading and sharing some interesting wintery facts in an always beautiful setting. One last note, in the winter, one of the greatest rewards of listening can be silence.
Warren Dunes State Park provides 1,952 acres of recreational opportunities along the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan. Its rugged dune formation, rising 260 feet above the lake, offers spectacular views and is excellent for hang gliding, dune climbing and sand surfing. The park is home to 3 miles of shoreline, 6 miles of hiking trails and two popular campgrounds.
HCH has an All-Terrain Rollator which may be reserved for use on our hikes. Reservations are made by emailing [email protected] on a first-come first-served basis.

From Red Arrow Highway, head west on Floral Lane, watch for the Warren Dunes Organizational Campground parking lot on your right. We will be gathering in the parking area. It is recommended you display your Recreation Passport. <https:>
Dress in layers, a warm cap, and sturdy boots and bring plenty of water. Depending on the weather, there may be some muddy or icy areas. Light precipitation and hot or cold weather don’t ordinarily lead us to call off hikes, but health-threatening temperature extremes and lightning can be causes for cancellation. In case of inclement weather the day of the hike, check our website, harborcountryhikers.com, or our Facebook page for notice of cancellation or rescheduling.
