REGISTRATION IS OPEN! Reserve a spot to participate in Champlin's 6th Annual Trout Ice Fishing Contest, now called the Frostbite 500. The 6th annual winter event will take place on Saturday, February 8th, from 8am to 11am, weather permitting. The make-up date is February 15th. 🎣 All ages are welcome to participate! Anglers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Contestants may keep up to three rainbow trout. The entry fee is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents. A total of 500 holes will be available, pre-drilled and spaced 12 feet apart on the Champlin Trout Pond (10377 French Lake Rd N). All participants must comply with Minnesota state licensing requirements and possess a trout stamp (unavailable for purchase onsite).
🎁 In addition to prizes for the top three largest fish, about 200 raffle prizes, including hats, gift cards, Yeti cups, and more, will be given away during the event.

FROSTBITE 500 NAME:
Frostbite 500 is the new name for our community's annual winter event. The idea for the first Trout Ice Fishing Contest started back in 2018, with the goal of creating more than just a fishing competition. After years of brainstorming, former Mayor Ryan Karasek partnered with our Parks & Recreation team to find the perfect name to rebrand the event: "Frostbite 500". The "500" represents the # of participants and pre-drilled holes on the ice. "Frost" reflects the often-frigid temperatures during the event, while "bite" refers to the rainbow trout swimming in the deep waters of the Champlin Trout Pond.
