Front Window Gallery Public Art Installation: Winter Workshop. Donations support Amherst Survival Center.
The Mill District General Store and Local Art Gallery is excited to offer an interactive public art installtion to the community. From mid-November through December, the public is invited experience "Winter Workshop", an installation made entirely out of cardboard that depicts a workshop in the hills of western Massachusetts. Visitors of all ages are invited to contribute their own family-friendly inspired creations to the exhibit, using the supplied materials at the Local Art Gallery Table.
TIMING:
November 12 – 21: the template will be constructed by The Mill District General Store and Local Art Gallery team and community volunteers, including artists Suzanne DiSessa and Gretchen Holesovsky.
November 22th, the exhibit opens to the public! Come create family-friendly elements to add to the installation! All materials provided. This is a FREE, drop-in event during store hours EXCEPT Sunday afternoon from 12 -4pm. Donations will be accepted for Amherst Survival Center or you may donate directly to Amherst Survival Center HERE.
This exhibit was inspired by the Plastic Bag Store, a touring, immersive installation by Robin Frohardt.
Children 14 and under must be supervised in the Gallery at all times. Please be advised that scissors and instruments with sharp edges are easily accessible for public use.

About The Mill District General Store & Art Gallery: The Mill District Local Art Gallery features Massachusetts artists from within an hour drive of the gallery. We accept all forms of artwork, including, but not limited to painting, drawing, ceramics & pottery, fiber arts, photography, wood & metal work, digital work, jewelry, printmaking, and sculpture. The Local Art Gallery is a living, breathing space full of unique, vibrant artwork that also hosts pop-ups, classes, events, and conversations led by the artists themselves.
