From Trauma to Trust - Craniosacral Bioenergetics and the road to recovery
In this workshop we will explore working with trauma in its many forms, including accidents and injury, illness, medical intervention, stroke, heart attack and boundary violations, all of which undermine the sense of trust, both in oneself and in others.
Stephen W. Porges, pioneer of Polyvagal Theory, puts it so well when he says: safety is the treatment. In Clinical Applications of The Polyvagal Theory By Stephen W. Porges and Deb Dana, Bonnie Badenoch asks:
What would it be like for us to be with our people with fewer judgments and consciously letting go of our own agenda? It would require deep trust in the power of relationship to surface the innate healing capacities of our patients. This would most likely be built on our own experience of healing, in which being heard and held without judgment or agenda were the agents of change.
This is the essence of Craniosacral Bioenergetics, a bodywork approach that epitomises a healing relationship based on developing trust. Out of trust our client can explore the ability to let go, and in letting go return to a more relaxed way of being.
During this workshop we will learn Craniosacral techniques that support deep therapeutic listening and facilitate a return to trust. We will also learn techniques to work specifically with the Vagus Nerve.
This course is open to anyone who has completed Module 1 Listening and Stillness with me. We may be able to make exceptions for suitably experienced therapists.
If you’ve done the module before, you’re welcome to do it again - there is always more to unlearn and less to do and the module is designed to be deeply relaxing and resourcing.
