Mike & Michelle deliver relatable lyrics, infectious personalities and a wholesome island attitude
Shel — Originally from the wide-open skies of Alberta and now rooted in Nanaimo, Shel’s story-telling melodies travel through love, loss, adventure and grit, encouraging all to stay a bit longer, grab a beer and enjoy a dance. Backed by a four piece band, her style is heavily influenced by Brandi Carlile truths, Janis Joplin passion, and Sierra Ferrel flair. With heartfelt vocals and a down-to-earth charm, her sound blends folk, blues, and country into something all her own.
Ben Zyakin is a songwriter, banjo player, and guitarist who lives in the wilds of Cedar, BC. He has performed solo since he was a kid and is a founding member of Nanaimo’s favourite doom country outfit, Country Mouse. He is delighted to return to the Vault stage after a long hiatus and will be bringing new music, a new instrument and some old stories along with him.
