How are students responding to the cracks in our systems that can no longer be ignored?
About this Event

Join Climate and Repair Advocates for a series of workshops exploring repair as a response to ecological, social, and institutional fracture, through conversations, mending, reflection, and collective action. All workshops are open to students and staff across UAL, and will take place in person at Camberwell College of Arts:

Exploring sustainable use of technology through zine making (12:00 - 13:30pm)

In this workshop, we will explore the environmental and ethical problems of energy use, product waste and human labour exploitation created through the production and use of everyday technologies. Together, we'll consider how tech can be used in a greener way e.g working towards a circular economy, using green host website makers and purchasing technology from second hand source. Participants will be invited to create their own zine in response to a series of documentaries that will be played simultaneously followed by a discussion of thoughts.

Let’s Talk About It: Building Connection Across Fault Lines (3-4pm)

Let’s Talk About It is an interactive conversation game designed to help build a more creative, connected and confident community at UAL. Using structured prompt cards and short rotating rounds, participants take part in low pressure, guided conversations about identity, belonging and shared responsibility.

Through playful but intentional dialogue, the workshop helps bridge gaps around race and social difference while supporting confidence and student wellbeing. It creates space to practise listening and speaking in ways that shift the atmosphere of a room. The session is open to anyone curious about how small conversations can create meaningful change within creative communities.

Food Literacy in Action (4-5pm)

This interactive workshop supports participants in developing practical skills to make more informed and ethical food choices. Together, we will analyse real ingredient lists and nutrition panels to understand what is actually in our baskets. Through activities like a timed 60-Second Label Scan and label Detective investigations, participants will learn how to move beyond marketing and focus on key indicators such as sodium per 100g and ingredient list length

The workshop avoids food shaming and instead promotes realistic, sustainable changes. Participants will leave with greater confidence in reading labels, recognising health-washing, and making balanced food choices that support their long term wellbeing.

To select a workshop, please choose from one of the tickets available.

These workshops form part of , University of the Arts London’s Earth Week 2026 programme, which brings staff and students together across the university for climate and ecological action.
