Join Black Detroit organizers, storytellers, and civic leaders for a powerful panel conversation presented by Black Bottom Archives examining the vital role of community memory in the movement for reparations. The discussion will connect the work of the Detroit Reparations Task Force and the Sankofa Community Research Project—two community-led initiatives advancing reparations for Black Detroiters—while highlighting Detroit’s long legacy of grassroots advocacy.
Rooted in the principle of Sankofa—“go back and get it”—panelists will explore how community research, storytelling, and archival practices function as tools for truth-telling, repair, and healing, and how preserving these stories helps reimagine more just and liberated Black futures in Detroit.
The museum will be open late until 8:30 pm on Thursday 2/12! Registration is through Black Bottom Archives at: https://bit.ly/bbafromthebottomupevents
Presented by the Black Bottom Archives. Included with museum admission
