About this Event

Learn to reduce your food waste and compost at home! Join I Love A Clean San Diego for our free From Scraps to Soil: Vermicomposting Workshop at the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens on Saturday, August 22 at 10:30 a.m. During this workshop, we’ll cover:

  • How to reduce food waste in the kitchen
  • Why it’s so important to keep food waste out of landfills through composting and the organic waste recycling program
  • Tips and tricks on how to use the curbside green bin

Attendees can make and take home a vermicomposting bin (worm composting) during the workshop – all supplies and information will be provided to start easily composting at home! *Please note that supplies are limited to one bin per household, with priority given to residents of the City of Vista.

We’ll also have the Sprouting Station open for attendees to plant fruit and vegetable seeds to take home and grow – use the finished compost from your vermicomposting bin to fertilize!

Registration is required. Thank you to the City of Vista for sponsoring this event!
