The second lecture in our 2025 Fall Program Series, "From Needle to Brush: Women and Art in the 19th Century," expands on the content of our special Rose Hill tour by the same name. On Sunday, October 26, at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Mansion, Director of Education Anne Dealy will look at how middle class women of the 19th and early 20th century approached art, as a hobby and profession. She will explore American attitudes about art, domesticity and the home, and how some women managed to work as professional artists. The program is being held in conjunction with the exhibits, "Art By Genevans" at the Geneva History Museum and "Without Asking Permission: The Art of Agnes Swan Hutchins and Margaret Hutchins" at Rose Hill Mansion.
The fall program series is supported in part by the ESL Charitable Foundation and is open to the public. There is a suggested donation of $5 to support our programming.
