From Moths to Stars – the bequest of G.V. Hudson
Schedule
Mon Nov 03 2025 at 04:00 am to 05:30 am
UTC+13:00Location
Te Papa Tory St facility, 169 Tory Street, Te Aro, Wellington 6011 | Wellington, WG
Join Te Papa’s insect and art curators for an inspiring journey through the life and legacy of one of Aotearoa’s most passionate naturalists. By day Hudson worked as a humble post office clerk, but in his spare time he was out in the wilds of Wellington, collecting, studying, and meticulously illustrating insects.
During the event, you'll get the rare chance to view original artworks, hear the stories behind them, and learn about current research projects. The event concludes with a special viewing of Hudson’s extraordinary insect collection, housed in the original kauri cabinets of the Dominion Museum - a true time capsule of Wellington and Aotearoa’s natural history.
Booking is REQUIRED.
The session on November 3 is booked out.
