About this Event
In times of crisis, when justice is at risk, women are disproportionately affected. In light of this, finding pathways to integrate women’s voices, from the margins of fragile societies to the center of decision-making, becomes the key to creating justice systems that are fair, resilient, and sustainable.
Justice Matters 2026 opens with a conversation that places women at the heart of justice reform. Hosted by the Humanity Hub and the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL), the Inaugural Panel will explore how women’s lived experiences, agency, and leadership can transform fragile times into opportunities for lasting peace.
This inaugural panel brings together women leaders and justice champions to discuss how gender-responsive justice systems can help alleviate the extra burden borne by women in periods of instability and conflict and serve as catalysts for broader societal stability. Through facilitated dialogue, the speakers will explore:
- How women experience injustice in fragile and conflict-affected settings
- Examples of gender-sensitive justice responses
- What justice systems look like when women are co-creators, not just beneficiaries
- How investing in women’s access to justice builds long-term societal stability and peace
Meet the speakers:
- , Deputy Mayor for Poverty, Inclusion, Public Health and International Affairs, The Hague
- , Chair, Independent International Fact-finding Mission on the Islamic Republic of Iran & Honorary Executive Director, Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST)
