About this Event
Please join us in ABC The Hague for Reflecting Together, a community-focused literary evening designed to reflect on the everyday stories of innocence, marginalization, resilience, social justice, and the lived realities of our planet, told through the short fiction published in The Fiction Journal. Participants will read and listen to short fiction pieces of their choice from The Fiction Journal, and come together to share thoughts, reflect collectively, and engage in an open conversation about storytelling, politics, emotion, learnings, and the experiences that fiction reveals.
About The Fiction Journal:
The Fiction Journal is an independent literary platform dedicated to fiction and poetry that resonate beyond the page. It is a home for stories that make you feel and think, and perfect for readers who believe good fiction doesn’t just entertain, it resonates.
About the discussion leaders:
Dr Jaffer Latief Najar is a writer, editor, and interdisciplinary researcher whose work spans literature, human rights, and social justice. He is the founding editor of The Fiction Journal, where he works closely with writers to develop fiction and poetry that engage deeply with imagination, reflection, and the human experience.
Javad Imani is a PhD researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Drawing on an interdisciplinary social science background, Javad explores how digital technologies shape social narratives, communities, and power relations.
Naomi Groenendijk is a cultural explorer, poet, and BA student of Arts, Media & Society at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Born in China and adopted by a Dutch couple, her personal journey informs her interest in identity, culture, and storytelling. She is a contributing poet to The Fiction Journal, where her work reflects sensitivity to emotion, observation, and lived experience.
Please note that the event will be held upstairs in The Hague and therefore is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
