From Housing Crisis to Community Power: Building APU’s 2027 Action Plan

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Together, we can build the power to make that happen.
Join Appalachian People’s Union in Morehead this December for a gathering focused on housing, homelessness, and how we move forward together in 2027.
We’ll bring together neighbors, people who have experienced homelessness, community advocates, service providers, and local leaders to share what we’re seeing—and turn what we know into a plan for action.
Together, we’ll explore:
🏠 How Kentucky’s HB 5 and the criminalization of homelessness are affecting our communities.
🔎 Who makes decisions about housing, funding, and enforcement—and how we can influence them.
🤝 Where we can build stronger relationships and bring more people into this work.
📣 What action we can take together in the year ahead. So come ready to commit to taking action.
We’ll use conversations, small-group activities, and power mapping to connect our experiences with the people and institutions that shape our housing options.
You don’t need policy expertise or organizing experience. Your experience, questions, and hopes for your community belong in this room.
Come ready to listen, share, meet neighbors, and help shape what comes next. Invite someone who cares about housing and wants to be part of building a stronger Kentucky!
