About this Event

Coming Home: Fight for a Legacy — A Benefit Sneak Peek & Panel

Join us in New York City for an exclusive first look at early footage from the upcoming documentary Coming Home: Fight for a Legacy, to share with the aviation and entertainment community to allow people in on the ground floor with the opportunity to champion a film that shines a light on an important piece of American history and has connective tissue to issues we face today.

Coming Home tells the inspiring story of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), who helped win World War II, revolutionized military aviation, and were then airbrushed out of history. This is the first feature documentary to tell their full story, including the Black women pilots barred from the WASP, and to reckon with an America that has always been willing to use women's service while refusing to honor it — a pattern that existed long before the WASP and continues long after.

After the panel, stick around for a Q&A session and then enjoy some networking and drinks.

Critical Juncture: 50% of the budget has been raised and we have a 60-minute cut of the film. Unfortunately our National Endowment of the Humanties grant was swept up in the DOGE cuts, which stripped us of our finishing funds.

Finish Line: To complete the film by 2027 we are seeking donors, investors, and partners. Contributions are tax-deductible through the film’s nonprofit fiscal sponsor, Women Make Movies:

PANEL LINEUP

The conversation will also explore how women aviators have been represented in film and television, the role female aviators have played in advancing aviation technology, and why these stories deserve to be told on the big screen.
