About this Event
On the 29th, I’ll be going to a sheep shearing event in Zuiderpark, you’re very welcome to join! 13:00 - 15:00.
In the Netherlands, 90% of wool is sadly treated as waste or burned, even though it’s a beautiful, natural, and regenerative resource. Sheep produce new fleece every year, making wool a renewable material with so much untapped potential.
Then, on Saturday, 2nd May, we’ll continue the process by cleaning (scouring) the wool and extracting lanolin together at my studio. This is an important step in preparing fleece for spinning, and a great way to understand the full journey from raw wool to usable fibre.
After the shearing and cleaning, I’ll host a hands-on session on sunday 9th May, where I’ll teach hand spinning. You’ll learn how to transform wool into your own yarn, reconnecting with a craft and seeing the value of wool from a new perspective.
No experience needed. Materials are included. You can join one, two or all three days.
Note: This workshop series is offered on a donation basis. Suggested contribution is €20-€50 if you’re able, which helps cover the cost of tools, materials, raw wool preparation, and the time and care that go into organising and teaching these sessions. At the same time, I want this to remain accessible. If you’re not in a position to contribute that amount, please still feel very welcome to join. Sharing knowledge, working with our hands, and reconnecting with local, regenerative materials like wool is at the heart of this gathering, and I’d love for you to be part of it.
