About this Event

From Dough to Dumpling, Wrapped with Love

With Shuxin

Join us for a hands-on cultural experience exploring one of China's most beloved culinary traditions — dumpling making.

In this welcoming workshop, participants will learn how to prepare, fold and create their own dumplings while discovering the stories and traditions behind this iconic dish. Dumplings are more than food; they represent family, togetherness, celebration and the joy of sharing.

To ensure everyone can participate, the workshop will feature a delicious vegan filling suitable for a wide range of dietary needs. Our experienced instructor will also introduce the preparation methods and cultural background of other traditional dumpling fillings, so participants can learn about the many variations enjoyed across different regions of China.

Participants will not only enjoy making and tasting their own creations during the workshop, but will also have the opportunity to make enough dumplings to take home and enjoy as another snack or meal with family and friends.

Whether you are discovering dumplings for the first time or reconnecting with a familiar tradition, this workshop offers a chance to create, learn and share through food and culture.

Meet Your Instructor
Shuxin Fu

By day, Shuxin Fu works as a finance officer; by passion, she is a dedicated enthusiast of dumpling making and traditional Chinese cuisine.

Having made dumplings for as long as she can remember, Shuxin grew up with dumplings as more than just a dish — they were a symbol of family, celebration and togetherness. Traditionally, making dumplings is an activity where generations of a family gather around the table, sharing stories, laughter and time together while passing down recipes, techniques and memories from one generation to the next.

Over the years, Shuxin has continued this tradition by teaching dumpling-making workshops and sharing the cultural stories behind this much-loved Chinese food. For her, dumpling making is not simply about learning a cooking technique; it is about passing on a piece of heritage, creating connections and sharing the love that has always been wrapped into every dumpling.

Every time someone learns to make their first dumpling, the excitement and smiles of participants bring her great joy and remind her why she loves sharing this tradition. Through her workshops, Shuxin hopes to introduce people to the flavours, stories and cultural heritage of her hometown, allowing these traditions to continue finding new homes around the world.

Beyond culinary arts, Shuxin is also a self-taught watercolour artist, bringing the same creativity, patience and appreciation for beauty into both her artwork and her approach to cultural sharing.
