12:30–1:00 PM — Doors Open, Check-In & NetworkingGuests arrive, check in, receive materials, meet one another and get settled. This gives you a chance to greet attendees personally without using your three-hour program time.
1:00–1:45 PM — SESSION ONE: Welcome to the World Behind the CameraTheme: From Salon Professional to Set Professional
Opening welcome and introductions of Tonya Cryer, Shan Williams and Kelley Jordan, followed by an overview of what attendees can expect from the afternoon.
Topics can include the differences between salon, theatrical, film and television environments; understanding the Hair Department; Department Head, Key, Additional Hairstylists and other positions; how hair supports character and storytelling; set terminology and hierarchy; and the realities of working long production days.
This is also a great place for each of you to give a brief personal “How I Got Here” story. That human connection will help attendees understand that there isn’t only one path into entertainment.

2:00–2:45 PM — SESSION TWO: What Happens Once You Get the Call?Theme: Set Etiquette, Expectations & Doing the Job
This is where you can really take attendees “behind the scenes.”
Cover call sheets and call times; arriving prepared; production hierarchy; working respectfully with actors; confidentiality; trailer and set etiquette; continuity and continuity photos; maintaining looks throughout a shooting day; working with different textures; building a professional set kit; communicating with the Department Head and Key; handling quick changes and pressure; and common mistakes new hairstylists make on set.
