A FREE, fun-filled event for frog fans of all ages with Tom Covell from Hooked on Nature. This is a hands-on workshop so bring the kids, bring your curiosity, and get ready to roll up your sleeves. Transform your place from “just a garden” into a five-star frog resort — complete with a hotel, a sauna, and even a pool! During the workshop, we will learn simple, practical ways to make our gardens more frog friendly. Then comes the really fun part — making a frog hotel! This is a great activity for the kids, and you will go home with your very own frog AirBnb.
We’ll also show you how to make your own frog sauna. We all love a warm, cosy sauna, but for frogs, warmth can be more than a luxury. Research in Australia has shown that warm “frog sauna” shelters can help frogs fight chytrid fungus, a serious skin disease that has decimated frog populations around the world. They need saunas in winter, so now is the perfect time to make that happen.
Learn how to build and furnish a frog pond that will also be a beautiful garden feature with shady plants and natural habitat, as well as being safe for children.
WHAT TO BRING: A large ceramic pot for your frog hotel. If it has a hole in the bottom that can be sealed at the workshop.
