An infill planting is a small community group planting to add extra plants or new species of plants to improve biodiversity of existing plantings. At Bob Lewis we have begun adding multiple different types of strappy sedge and wetland plants, much beloved by frogs, dragon flies and insects, to provide a deep soak in the middle of the reserve.The frog bog will improve storm water drainage in Highland Avenue by increasing the number of plants that take up excess winter storm water.
Volunteers are welcome to join us for a morning of infill planting to learn more about plants that deal with occasional inundation.
PREPARE - Dress in long pants, long sleeves (spray jacket helps in case of rain), closed shoes and hat. BYO water bottle.
The friends will supply insurance, tools, equipment, PPE, supervision and morning tea. Plants kindly provided by City of Holdfast Bay biodiversity team.
MEETING POINT: frogbog of Bob Lewis Reserve. Please take care to park on one side of Highland Avenue so residents have room to enter and exit their driveways.
