About this Event
Join The Nature Conservancy and expert herpetologist, Chris Asquith, on a guided walk to make wildlife observations and identify species, specifically frogs, salamanders, tadpoles, snakes and other amphibians and reptiles. Families are welcome. Recommended for ages 6+.
Please wear rubber boots or shoes you don’t mind getting wet as we explore vernal pools and wetter areas of the property in search of amphibians and reptiles. No dogs. No bathroom facilities. No clearly defined trail--hikers will be walking in grassy fields and wetland habitats.
Forks of the Rivanna is a Nature Conservancy easement and wetland restoration property located on Bentivar Farm Road on the Rivanna River.
This event is part of the annual Charlottesville Region biodiversity challenge. The 2026 City Nature Challenge (rural areas, too!) will take place around the globe.
