Join us for a hands-on Fringe Moccasin Workshop, where tradition meets creativity. This immersive experience invites you to learn the intricate techniques behind crafting your own custom pair of fringe moccasins, perfect for any occasion. Under the guidance of a skilled Anishinaabe kwe, you'll discover the rich history and cultural significance of moccasin design, and learn how to work with soft, supple leather, threading, and decorative fringe accents.
Be prepared to walk away with a beautiful, handcrafted pair of moccasins made with your own hands. This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in learning about moccasin making, making new friends and having fun and laughter.
Come prepared to get creative, and leave with a one-of-a-kind pair of moccasins that are as unique as you are!
Tickets close one week before the first session. Participants will be contacted regarding their shoe size and materials will be cut to size.
This workshop takes place at 1 Elgin St, in the National Arts Centre’s Atelier Shenkman Smith which is located across from the Box Office.
