Join us as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Society for Human Rights, and the 30th Anniversary of LGBT History Month!
Early Bird ticket pricing available through 9/18!
In 1924, Henry Gerber formed the Society for Human Rights — the first nationally recognized organization for the advancement of gay rights in the United States. Only two issues of its newsletter “Friendship and Freedom” were published. To the best of anyone’s knowledge, no copies of this newsletter exist – all were destroyed, or lost to time. Gerber/Hart exists to ensure that such important artifacts of queer existence will be preserved, and never lost again.
This 1920’s – inspired evening will feature entertainment, exhibits, and surprises – all to raise money in support of Gerber/Hart’s mission to preserve the history of LGBTQ+ History in Chicago and the Midwest, and make it accessible to all.
We will be honoring former Gerber/Hart Board President and Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame recipient Kevin G. Boyer for his work in the formation of LGBT History Month. Please join us to celebrate his extraordinary contribution to the LGBTQ+ communities.
More participants to be announced soon!
A special 6:00 PM VIP gathering and private Q&A with participants, and a tour of the archives, is available.
