The Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Mount Holyoke Range will be on Thursday, November 7 at the Notch Visitor Center in South Amherst, and is free and open to the public. We'll share a Potluck Supper beginning at 6:00 pm, followed by our brief Annual Meeting at 7:00 pm to elect new officials to the Board of Directors. This will be followed by a presentation at 7:20 pm by Phil Johnson from Amherst Railway. Phil will give a presentation about trains and trolleys in and around the Mount Holyoke Range, which were used to move residents and vacationers around the valley in times past.
The mission of the Friends of the Mount Holyoke Range is to foster the preservation, development, and operation of the Mount Holyoke Range and its natural, recreational, educational and historic legacy. We do this by providing volunteer assistance and a revolving fund for the promotion of various programs and land preservation on the Range. Some of these events include our Summer Concert Series in the Summit House, the Seven Sisters Trail Race, and various programs and projects coordinated with DCR staff.
Anyone can be a member of the Friends! An individual membership is just $10, and a Family membership is $15. The Friends also has an opening on the Board of Directors. Interested parties can attend our event to learn more, or contact us through our website at www.friendsofmhr.org
No registration is required. It's a great way to stay in touch with what's happening in the Range, make new friends, and support one of our region's most beautiful state parks!
